Painting the outdoors, in the outdoors
There's nothing like breathing in fresh Adirondack air, tucked away beside a river or amongst remote landscape, and with that a paintbrush in hand. Plein air painters charge into nature to capture the beauty and essence of this 6 million acre park. Every August, more than 50 artists from all over the East Coast and Canada get together in Saranac Lake to take part in four days of outdoor painting.
The festival closes with a big Show & Sale, typically held in the Harrietstown Town Hall, 39 Main St., Saranac Lake. This event usually takes place the third week of August, corresponding with the Third Thursday ArtWalk in the village.
